Today was interesting. And sad. And... this has nothing to do with ME, but a friend. And... he is having a hard time. I dedicate this to him.
Find love in your new family, your family of friends. We have always been here, and we will always be here for you.
This poem was written about grief. The five stages of grief are: Shock/Denial, Anger, Depression/Detachment, Bargaining, Acceptance.
Five Mile Road
He walks a 5 mile road,
Walking until Dawn.
He feels nothing at first.
Why should I? He thinks.
Nothings wrong,
nothings different.
But there is that confusion,
that irritation, that shame,
he is frustrated.
Why? And somewhere,
along this second stretch of road,
there is a crack in the road,
created out of his anger.
But his anger fades to blame,
to numbness, and he is overwhelmed.
He is helpless.
It is my fault.
My fault this road even exists.
Listen to me, please, just listen...
Why is it this way?
Make it change!
I'll give whatever!
Why? Why did this have to happen?
Soon though, over time,
on the last leg of his journey,
the last mile goes by,
and the pain fades.
He finds a new plan,
a new place in the world.
And leaves that road behind him.
But still... at night,
when hes all alone.
One question haunts him.
What would life be like,
if it had been different?
